The Bob Ross Painting Party

I finally hosted the long-requested Bob Ross painting party — and I’m so glad I did!

Prefaced with a scrumptious tea and finger-sandwich lunch, I transformed my home living room into a mini studio for the day, setting up easels, fresh canvases, palettes, brush sets, and every paint color they could need to paint one of Bob Ross’s infamous works, “Peaceful Reflections”. This was voted on by the group before the party date. Everything was supplied by me, so no one had to think about materials—just showing up and diving in. Throughout the day, I shared tips, demonstrated techniques, and offered encouragement to help everyone feel capable and confident in their work.

We all worked from the same subject, but the results couldn’t have been more different. What began as one reference image turned into a collection of distinct interpretations—some bold, some subtle, some detail-driven, others more expressive. Watching everyone settle into their focus and develop their own approach was easily the highlight.

It was a full day of painting that ended with tired hands and big smiles. I had such a great time hosting and would absolutely do it again!

Huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated!
